BANA (Bilateral Assisted Negative Accentuated)

Diving into more extensive kinesiology, this a BANA high pull, which stands for bilateral assisted negative accentuated. Remember bilateral means two limbs, unilateral one limb. Breaking it down, I am eccentric loading my glutes and hamstrings on one leg, (unilateral) creating constant eccentric time under tension followed by a (bilateral) two limb explosive force into hip extension. Slower eccentric movements followed by a fast twitch explosive muscle contraction has been proven to increase strength and power. Hip extension is needed for athletic movement patterns and sport specific skills. By loading slowly and exploding, I am sending neurological impulses to motor unit neurons under extreme amounts of CNS (central nervous system) activation—which over time, allows the athlete to move heavier loads faster = more power, more force, more awesomeness. They are hard, try 3 sets of 2-4 on each leg.
