Join NowReactive shock plyometrics
This is a continued sequence after we have mastered (low level) single leg shock training. Once we have mastered shock training from 6-18 inches, we can attempt to climb the vertical latter and attempt 24, 30 or 40 inch drop taps shown here. However, the primary goal here is not height, I can jump higher. The focus is on getting from the box to ground as fast as humanly possible. Shock training ignites the SSC or stretch shortening cycle in which stored, elastic energy is involved with a quick countermovement followed by a powerful jump, bound or action. This science came out in the 80’s and was developing some of the fastest 40 yard times ever recorded. Its creeping back into competitive sports and its use is undeniable. Sport organizations, although high profitable and successful, have also become a little laxed and liberal. Meaning, great players seek out great trainers in the off seasons. Some do not, and think their God given talent will give them the way, whether a teen or superstar. I suggest we humble ourselves, especially youth athlete’s and professionals climbing into their mid to upper 30’s. Shock training, ankle mobility, FRC hip mobility, and cross plane plyometrics that involve multiple planes are all tools that bulletproof the foot and lower ankle complex. Try 3-5 sets of 8-12, and stay tall with you spine neutral.
